Choosing a Route:
Bealach a Roghnú:
The Adare Bypass is anticipated to be approximately between six and eight kilometres
in length, with a river crossing of the Maigue, and other structures
such as overbridges, underbridges and junctions as required to
integrate with the existing road network.
Limerick County Council engaged Consultants Jacobs to assist them in:
- Identifying
obstacles or constraints of the scheme
- Recommending
a route corridor for the new roadway
- Identifying
land required for the scheme
- Managing
the process in line with the requirements of the NRA's National
Roads Project Management Guidelines, phases 2, 3 and 4
The following steps are involved in selecting the route :
-
Constraints Study
A Constraints Study is carried out to determine any physical,
procedural, legal, environmental or heritage constraints that
could affect the design, or delay progress, or influence the
cost of the scheme.
-
Route Selection
In this phase, a number of possible alternative routes are identified,
these are assessed & shortlisted and a preferred route corridor
is selected based on Engineering, Environmental, and Economic
criteria
-
Preliminary Design /
CompulsoryPurchase Order /
Environmental Impact
A specimen design will be completed to allow the Compulsory
Purchase Order (CPO) to be prepared, and for the Environmental
Impacts to be assessed.
