The project is being progressed on behalf of Limerick County Council by the Mid West National Road Design Office in consultation with the National Roads Authority.

The scheme is located on the N21 National Primary Route between Tralee and Limerick, commencing in the townland of Kilkinlea Lower where it will connect to the constructed Castleisland to Abbeyfeale scheme and terminating in the townland of Garraunboy where it will connect to the existing N21/proposed Adare Bypass Road Scheme.

To date an Indicative Constraints Study Area has been identified within which a number of Indicative Route Corridor Options have been identified; the scheme will incorporate bypasses of the towns of Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale.

A Constraints Study Report has been prepared detailing a wide range of data collected on constraints within the Indicative Constraints Study Area.
