The Limerick Southern Ring Road Phase II will be a grade separated dual carriageway
with interchanges to existing and proposed roads, a river crossing of the Shannon
and other structures such as overbridges, underbridges and link roads as required
to access the existing road network.
Phase II is a continuation of the
existing Southern Ring Road project and will extend the Phase I section to join
the N20 to the N18. This scheme will complete the Limerick Southern Ring Road
and link all the national roads coming into Limerick:
N18 Ennis Road
N69 Dock Road from Foynes N20 / N21 Cork / Kerry Road
N24 Tipperary Road
N7 Dublin Road

Project Steering Committee has engaged Consultants MC O'Sullivan & Company Ltd
and COWI of Denmark to assist them in -
Evaluating
the need for the scheme
- Recommending
a route for the new road
- Identifying
land required for the scheme

Satisfying the requirements of the NRA National Roads Project Management Guidelines,
phases 2, 3 and 4
- Constraints
Study - completed. A Constraints Study has been carried out to determine any physical,
procedural, legal, environmental constraints that could affect the design or delay
progress and influence the cost of the scheme.

Selection.
- Preliminary
Design / Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) / Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
- sufficient design will be carried out to allow CPO to proceed and an EIS to
be prepared.
